ELLA Uses Google To Think Outside The Box

LATINAS THINK BIG, Los Angeles, Google Apps for Business, ELLA Leadership Institute

These days, if you want to expand your business, you have to think outside the cubicle!

That’s why when Dr. Angelica Perez-Litwin had the BIG IDEA to launch the ELLA Leadership Institute, she looked to Google Apps to handle everything from setting up an online office space to managing her social media outreach, and everything in between.

A noted leader in tech and social media, Dr. Perez-Litwin understands that in order to successfully launch and maintain  a hyperengaged online community for Latina businesswomen, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders, she must first be able to successfully manage the back end of her enterprise via the very platforms that she advocates for.

In order to accomplish this goal, Dr. Perez-Litwin enlisted the help of a group of tech, media, and business leaders from across the country to help her build the ELLA community. Though the ELLA team is scattered across the country, they collaborate daily using the following items:

Google Drive:

The ELLA Team create, share and update task lists, marketing documents, spreadsheets, and business best practices protocol outlines via Google Drive. Having real time access to shared documents has made brainstorming, collaborating, and editing a virtual breeze!

Google Wallet:

Google Wallet allows the ELLA Leadership Institute to be a lean, green (because it’s paperless), budget machine! In addition to enabling free and quick payment transfers to the ELLA team, Google Wallet allows ELLA to keep track of its budget and business expenses.

Google+ Hangouts and YouTube:

Good leaders know that face-to-face contact yields desirable results, whether you’re meeting with a client, a colleague, or your professional team. But how do you implement this practice when your desired target is dispersed across the nation? You turn to Google+ Hangouts! Google+ Hangouts can either be made private or public, and are perfect for conducting team meetings, or in our case, conducting interactive live stream webinars. We especially love how we’re able to upload our live stream events from Google+ Hangouts to YouTube for continued viewing!

Google+ Hangouts On Air:

Speaking of live stream, ELLA  blazed the trail for Latina-led TEDx-style speaking series when it  launched the LATINAS THINK BIG™ national tour last spring. This fall, ELLA will live stream their LATINAS THINK BIG™ LA event from Google’s headquarters using  the Google Hangouts On Air platform. Make sure you tune in here:  http://bit.ly/1hi5sUL

Google Analytics:

When implementing a new social media strategy, we like to measure the impact of the last. This way, we can determine what worked for us, what didn’t, and how to move forward. Google Anaylitics allows us to do this by tracking our impressions, page clicks, and overall social media impact.

And finally, Google+:

The ELLA community is by far Dr. Perez-Litwin’s number one priority. She and her team interact with the ELLA community on a daily basis, utilizing a variety of social media platforms including Google+ to stay abreast of what it is that ELLA’s members want, need, and love! Because so many of our events take place on Google, Google+ makes it easy for us to send out webinar invitations, discussion round tables, and Google Hangouts.
