Three Fabulous Holiday Makeup Looks!
One thing I love about the holidays is that it gives me the perfect excuse to dress and doll up (not that I really need one). With holiday parties just around the corner, you’ll need to know how to look effortlessly pretty and festive. Here are 3 holiday makeup looks that will help you get the party started!
This year try tackling a bold lip, but instead of going for the usual bright red pout, opt for a berry color. Berry is not only very in season, but looks great on a range of skin tones. It can make the thinnest lips appear fuller and the contrast makes teeth look whiter! The trick to get this look right is keeping the rest of the holiday makeup soft. Keep blush to a minimum and go for a neutral eye shadow. Apply lipstick straight from the tube and use your fingers to blend it out to the corners of your mouth. Then use a tissue to blot away excess color. Apply a thin layer of clear gloss to give your pout some shine. Go for a neutral shade on lids and apply 3 coats of lengthening and volumizing mascara like CoverGirl’s Lash Blast Fusion Volume + Length mascara in Very Black.
For Fair Skin: Try Guerlain’s Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick in Grenade 65.
For Medium Skin (olive, tan or caramel complexions): Try Estee Lauder Double Wear Lipstick in Stay Mulberry
For Dark Skin (brown or darker complexions): Try Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
Look festive with dramatic golden lids. The trick here is to have a smooth and flawless complexion. Apply a smooth liquid foundation like Chanel’s Perfection Lumiere. Use your fingers or the BeautyBlender to blend. Apply a concealer two or three shades lighter under eyes to cover any dark circles and even out skin tone. To give skin a sun-kissed glow apply a bronzer that has golden specs like Rimmel’s SunShimer Shimmering Maxi Bronzer on the cheeks and bridge of the nose. Your glamorous golden lids should be the focal point of this look.
For Fair Skin: Try Bare Escentuals bareMinerals Eyecolor eyeshadow in True Gold.
For Medium Skin (olive, tan or caramel complexions): Try Make Up For Ever Metal Powder in Honey Gold.
For Dark Skin (brown or darker complexions): Try MAC eyeshadow in Goldenrod.
Apply shadow across the lid, then line lashes with a black eyeliner. Add a dusting of gold shadow under the bottom lash line for a more dramatic look. Finish with a lengthening mascara like Hypnôse Doll Lashes mascara. Keep lips nude with a nude or light pink gloss like Estee Lauder Pure Color Lip Gloss in Nude Rose.
HOLIDAY MAKEUP LOOK – Sultry Bronze Smokey Eye
The bronze smokey eye is a softer take on the popular smokey eye look. Start off by using a shimmery bronze shadow like Lancome’s Color Design palette in 104 Kissed by Bronze. Apply the light shade as the base lid color and then take an angled eyeshadow brush to apply a darker shade from the outer corner of the eyelid to the middle. Then take the darkest color and outline the upper and lower lash line, blend. Then apply 2 coats of Make Up For Ever’s Smoky lash mascara. Finish with a nude lip to leave the focus on the eyes. Try CoverGirl’s Queen Collection Lip Gloss in Starlet Sand.
Tis the season for festive holiday makeup!
