If the last time you went to the movies with your teen daughter was years ago, Girl in Progress might be just the right movie for that your next mami-daughter outing! The official trailer and post of Eva Mendez and Cierra Ramirez is now available, and the movie hits the theaters May 11th, 2012!
Girl in Progress – A Coming of Age Story
Grace (Eva Mendes) is a single mom, too preoccupied with “paying the bills” and herself to notice that her teenage daughter, Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez) is in desperateneed of her attention. When Ansiedad’s English teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette), introduces her students to classic coming-of-age stories, Ansiedad decides to jump start her own coming of age and all the pain associated with it, as a shortcut to “adulthood” and more importantly a life without her mom. As her misguided plan unravels, in some comedic yet poignant series of events, both Ansiedad and Grace must learn that sometimes growing-up means acting your own age.
As mothers and daughters, we can all relate to some aspects of this story. As daughters, we’ve had moments when our relationship with the most important woman in our life has been tested. As mothers, we know it’s a matter of time before our girls will blossom into adulthood, and our relationship will shift. Girl in Progress is the story of one of the most powerful relationships there is — the mother-daughter one.
