In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month NEW LATINA will feature five amazing of Latinas of the past and present, each week. We are proud to kick off our Hispanic Heritage Month series with the fabulous voices, faces and minds of Latin music!
You may not know her name, but if you’re a fan of Latin music, you know her work. Rebeca León, Vice President of Latin Talent at AEG Live/Golden Voice, has been featured in Billboard Magazine first ever “Power Players: 40 Under 40” series , and is touted as the “most powerful woman in Latin touring”—a title that she definitely lives up to. According to Billboard.biz, Rebeca León has grown her unit’s revenue by 150% between 2011-2012, in a time when the Latin music business is wavering. She is also credited with coordinating record breaking concert series, such as the 7-night sold out shows for Maná at the Staples Center. Rebeca León is a Latin music engineer, building lucrative bridges between artists, sponsors and venues. She is a master collaboration coordinator, having coordinated Wisin y Yandel’s successful sponsorship by Corona in more than 12 markets, as well as collaborative tours between artists like Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Iglesias. Rebeca León’s mission to bridge as many musical gaps as possible continues as she hopes to cross-pollinate mainstream/ Pop Latin artists with more rock-centric Latin artists, in a project that she lovingly refers to as “Project Save the Guitar”. When she isn’t busy developing and executing tours, sponsorship deals and concert-series, Rebeca León is managing Colombian superstar, Juanes.
