Celebrate Thanksgiving A Lo Grande With These 3 Cocktail Recipes

Add a touch of honey, ginger and lemon to your upcoming Thanksgiving cocktails!

Thanksgiving is here to ring in the beginning of the holiday season! Let’s welcome this special celebration A Lo Grande by adding a twist to your favorite holiday cocktail recipes and introducing some new ones that we are sure will quickly become new favorites.

According to Buchanan’s mixologist, Ricky Gomez, the 2012 U.S. World Class Bartender of the Year, one way to add a twist to your favorite holiday recipe is by changing the sweetening ingredient.  For instance, if your cocktail calls for sugar syrup you can substitute it with some of this season’s hottest flavors such as honey or ginger syrup.  You could also add some popular fruits and spices of the season to enhance flavor

To keep you warm and enjoy a tasty and seasonal flavor, Ricky recommends a Hot Toddy.Thanksgiving A Lo Grande

Hot Toddy

1.5 oz Buchanan’s DeLuxe

1 tsp honey

3 oz hot water

1 Cinnamon Stick, 3 cloves

Lemon wheel

Place all ingredients in a hot toddy mug (glass coffee mug) and stir


For those ginger lovers looking for a sweet and sour cocktail, you can try a Ginger Meggs.Thanksgiving A Lo Grande

Ginger Meggs

1/2 oz PX Sherry1.5 oz Buchanan’s DeLuxe

1/2 ginger syrup

1/2 oz lemon juice

1 oz mandarin juice

Place all ingredients in a shaker tin.  Add ice and shake.  Strain over

fresh ice in a rocks glass. Mardarin zest garnish.

 Monty Burns

2 oz Buchanan’s DeLuxe

1/2 oz Amaro montenegro

1/2 oz Sweet vermouth

2 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters

Place all ingredients in a mixing glass.  Add ice and stir.  Strain into a chilled glass and garnish with a lemon zest.
