In honor of love, this week we continue to feature the beautiful weddings of five New Latina readers. Today’s wedding and love story belongs to the beautiful and multi-talented Rachel Matos. Enjoy!
Where/how did you and your husband meet?
My husband and I actually in the early 90s when we were college students at the School of Visual Arts. We re-met some time in 2006 via mutual friends/alumni. It was a coincidence that we were both out in LA.
How/where did your husband proposed?
My husband, along with my son, proposed to me at Newport Beach during sunset. It was the sweetest night ever. We had dinner, strolled the boardwalk … then he proposed. Afterwards, we went to Disneyland for the weekend.
Where was your wedding and did you have a theme?
My wedding took place in Granbury Texas. My mother lives on a huge air park with a beautiful country club. We didn’t really have a theme. I wore my mother’s wedding dress and I chose colors that reminded me of my late grandmother … It was the weekend after Thanksgiving so it was small wedding with close friends and family.
Your best advice to someone preparing their wedding day?
It goes by quickly. Don’t stress. Have fun. You’ve got a whole new life ahead of you.
