ABOUT DR. ANGELICA PEREZ-LITWIN
Dr. Angelica Perez-Litwin is the Founder and CEO of ELLA Institute, publisher of NEW LATINA and the administrator of the National Latina Leadership Network, an online community for nearly 3,000 Latina professionals. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University and a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Fordham University.
Dr. Perez-Litwin has a deeply personal and professional understanding of the challenges that U.S. Latinas face in achieving career success. She has devoted more than 20 years of her professional career as a Clinical Psychologist and Social Entrepreneur to the empowerment, wellbeing and success of Latinas.
Dr. Perez-Litwin is a graduate of Harvard Kennedy School Executive Program, National Hispana Leadership Institute (NHLI) Executive Leadership Program and Center for Creative Leadership. She has also been named as a Top Blogger by LATISM (Latinos in Social Media) and Latino Tech Leader by NBC Latino.
Pérez’ career has been anchored by a driven desire to empower others, especially women and her Latino community. It is this determination and her background as a clinical psychologist that led her to further explore the varying dimensions of today’s Latina woman, thus coining the identity of the New Latina.
Her distinct life experiences as an entrepreneur, psychologist, and ambitious Latina, have positioned her to be an invaluable resource to media seeking greater understanding and insights on the multifaceted dimensions of the growing Hispanic market and their contributions to the ever evolving multicultural American society.
Pérez-Litwin is a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and other online publications. She has been featured as a psychologist guest expert on Univision, Telemundo and HITN (Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network).
Pérez is a 16-year clinical psychologist practitioner whose approach to counseling and therapy has been self-defined as “relaxed but empowering.” With academic degrees from Columbia University (B.A., Psychology, 1989) and Fordham University (Ph.D., 1998 and M.A., 1993, Clinical Psychology) she formerly held a Research Assistant Professor Faculty Appointment from the New York University School of Medicine, and co-Directed their Multicultural Memory Clinic, as part of the Aging and Dementia Research Center.
Married with four children and managing a private practice, she is a proud bilingual Dominican and native New Yorker born and raised in Washington Heights.
