Beautiful photos, incredible mind of a 16 year old. Empowered by an empowering mother it seems. She will go far.
Hi India,
I had to take a small break from work and get to view the wonderful pictures that you took. More than anything, your young age and enthusiasm to learn, explore and to share it with other Latinas like myself. I am proud that you are body president of your school and have no doubt that you will achieve many other goals that you set yourself to. Everything happens for a reason, remember that. That being said, I met a single mother of two who is “Dominican,” and you reminded me of her. Although she has not had the same opportunities of exploring different places yet, she is a woman who works tirelessly to support her kids. It is just amazing what education can do. Keep up the good work so that you empower many more young Latinas to do the same. Oh and yes, we are taking over the world!!!!
Flor, thank you for taking the time to write such encouraging words. At New Latina, it’s all about celebrating, empowering and supporting Latinas of all ages and all walks of life. And, yes, education does wonders to the soul, the mind and communities.
All I can think of is wow! So much future ahead for you India. Adelante!! Love your photos, my favorite is the self portrait :) Keep doing those!
Hola Dariela! This is Angelica — Can you believe she took that photo herself? I was like “how did you do that…?”
I hope we can do a similar spotlight on you and your gorgeous photo. I’ll send you the questions!
India totally rocks! :)
